A Chef. A public speaker. A brand diplomat. A fancy farm wife. A mom. A woman. And while I do love cooking and sharing my love for food with others, nothing rivals my love for encouraging women in their marriages and relationships. Which is why when I read Titus 2 verses 3-5, I felt a great responsibility to obey.
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
I realize that I am now considered an “older woman.” I’ve got a solid thirty plus years of marriage and relationship experience under my belt- chock full of lessons learned, wonderful memories, and yes… frustrating failures. And even though I’m still a work in progress, I feel an urgent need to encourage and train younger women just as the verse says.
That’s why I’ve started “Titus Woman Time” on Periscope! Technology kinda freaks me out, but I realize that it is one of the most effective ways to connect with the younger generation. So this old dog is learning new tricks.
In case you didn’t know, Periscope is an app you can get for your phone or tablet (and can also watch on the computer!) and it’s basically like live TV. Eek! That means I am gonna get raw and real with you. Sometimes I (gulp) won’t be wearing makeup. Or my house won’t be clean. Or I’ll be a hot mess! But that’s our reality as women, right? We learn best when we can relate to someone else, and that does not always look perfect. Whew! What a relief.
So, every morning at 9am central time, wherever I am and whatever I’m doing, I’m gonna hop on my iPhone and take a few minutes to encourage and share life with anyone in the world who cares to watch! I’ll be sharing marriage and relationship tips. Telling life stories that I have learned valuable lessons from (hopefully). Sometimes I’ll share DIYs, book reviews, and who knows what else!
I hope it will be a time of growing and encouragement for all of us, and in the end our marriages, our relationships with others, and our relationship with God will be all the richer!
Hope to see you then!
