Orange Brunch Crescents

IMG_2925

Around our house, these are known as “the very tasty pastries” and they are BDP’s favorite breakfast/brunch treat, so I try to make them as often as I can. Please don’t skip out on the orange zest in this recipe; that little bit of zest is what sets these rolls apart from all the others.

8 oz cream cheese, softened
3 Tbs granulated sugar
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp orange zest
2 rolls refrigerated crescent roll dough

Preheat oven to 375 degrees (350 degrees if using a glass baking dish).

In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese with sugar, almond extract, and orange zest.

Unroll one roll crescent roll dough onto work surface, leaving it in one sheet, pressing perforated seams closed.

Place half of prepared cream cheese mixture onto dough and spread out evenly. Roll dough up from short end and cut roll into 8 rolls.

Repeat with remaining roll of crescent roll dough and remaining cream cheese filling.

Place rolls into a greased 9×13 baking dish and bake, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove from oven and immediately drizzle with orange glaze. (Recipe below)

Orange Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp orange zest
1 Tbs melted butter
1/4 tsp almond extract

Combine glaze ingredients, adding enough orange juice to gain the desired consistency.
